Heavy Snow in the West and Upper Midwest; Freezing Rain in the Northeast

Heavy snow will continue in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and flash flooding is possible in the lower elevations of the southern Sierra Nevada. Moderate to heavy snow is expected from the Intermountain West into the central Rockies and across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Systems and Facilities Division (SFD)

The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
