Quick Event Summary

December 2024 brought active weather to the state in the form of several rounds of rain and thunderstorms, but there wasn't much in the way of severe weather. Fog was seen quite often, especially during the early to middle part of the month. Temperatures remained well above normal and there wasn't any winter weather to speak of.

Several rounds of rain are expected in the next seven days. Through early Thursday (December 19th), widespread two to three inch amounts are in the forecast across Arkansas. Local totals over three inches are possible in central and eastern sections of the state.#arwx pic.twitter.com/WXIooYD4Ju

A Near Miss on December 28, 2024

Late in the month a strong storm system approached the area and provided a chance of severe weather. This was a close call for Arkansas, with the bulk of the severe thunderstorms occurring just to the south and east. More than a few dozen tornadoes occurred across portions of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Locally, only a few hail reports and a damaging wind report were received on the 28th.
