When temperatures and/or wind chill index values reach at least 0 degrees across the northern half of Arkansas, and 5 degrees farther south, the National Weather Service will usually issue a Cold Weather Advisory.
When temperatures and/or wind chill index values reach at least -10 degrees over the northern and central counties, and -5 degrees in the south, an Extreme Cold Warning may be posted.
Under these conditions, people are advised to protect themselves from the cold, and cover exposed skin with several layers of clothing.
