.SUMMARY...
MOST OF OCTOBER WAS ABOVE AVERAGE IN TERMS OF TEMPERATURES AND
SLIGHTLY BELOW AVERAGE IN TERMS OF RAINFALL. IN FACT, THERE WERE
ONLY FOUR DAYS IN THE THIRD WEEK AND TWO DAYS IN THE LAST WEEK WITH
DAILY TEMPERATURES BELOW AVERAGE. ON MOST DAYS DURING THE MONTH,
READINGS RANGED FROM 5-10 DEGREES ABOVE. WHILE THE MONTH WAS WARM,
THERE WERE NO TEMPERATURES AT OR ABOVE 90 FOR THE SECOND OCTOBER IN
A ROW. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FIVE YEARS, THOUGH, NO TEMPERATURE WAS
COLDER THAN 40 DEGREES. ON THE 13TH, WE BROKE A DAILY WARMEST LOW
TEMPERATURE RECORD THAT HAD BEEN STANDING SINCE 1886!

RAINFALL WAS A LITTLE BELOW HALF AN INCH LESS THAN THE 30-YEAR MEAN.
THOUGH THERE WERE NINE DAYS WITH MEASURABLE RAINFALL, WHICH IS ABOVE
THE AVERAGE OF EIGHT, OVER HALF OF IT FELL WITHIN THE FIRST TWO
DAYS.

NO SNOW FELL FOR THE FOURTH OCTOBER IN A ROW.

.MONTHLY AVERAGES...
THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST SINCE 2016. THE AVERAGE
LOW TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST SINCE 2004. THE AVERAGE MONTHLY

TEMPERATURES CONTINUED TO RUN WELL ABOVE AVERAGE FOR OCTOBER. IN FACT,
ONLY A FEW DAYS DURING THE THIRD AND ALSO THE FINAL WEEK SAW READINGS
AVERAGE OR BELOW. THOUGH READINGS WERE WARM, THERE WERE NO 90-DEGREE DAYS
FOR THE SECOND OCTOBER IN A ROW. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FIVE YEARS, THOUGH,
NO TEMPERATURE WAS COLDER THAN 40 DEGREES.

THANKS TO A SLOW-MOVING STORM SYSTEM ON THE 2ND, RAINFALL WAS IN RECORD
TERRITORY DURING THE MONTH, WITH A TOTAL OVER FIVE INCHES ABOVE THE 30-
YEAR MEAN. THERE WERE 13 DAYS WITH MEASURABLE RAINFALL, WHICH IS WELL
ABOVE THE AVERAGE OF EIGHT FOR OCTOBER. NEARLY 75 PERCENT OF THE RAIN
FOR THIS MONTH, THOUGH, FELL IN THE FIRST TWO DAYS.

NO SNOW FELL FOR THE FOURTH OCTOBER IN A ROW.

.MONTHLY AVERAGES...
THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST SINCE 2017 AND THE 9TH
WARMEST ON RECORD. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST SINCE
2016 AND THE 4TH WARMEST ON RECORD. THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE
WAS THE WARMEST SINCE 2016 AND THE 6TH WARMEST ON RECORD.

ALSO, THE 24-HOUR PRECIPITATION OF 5.78 INCHES ON THE 2ND-3RD WAS THE
HIGHEST 24-HOUR RAINFALL IN OCTOBER SINCE 2009, AND SET A RECORD FOR
THE HIGHEST 24-HOUR RAINFALL DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER. THE PREVIOUS
RECORD WAS 5.43 INCHES OCTOBER 29-30, 2009. THIS WAS ALSO THE HIGHEST
24-HOUR RAINFALL OVERALL SINCE 6.92 INCHES FELL ON APRIL 30-MAY 1, 2011,
AND THE 5TH HIGHEST ON RECORD.

.MISCELLANEOUS PHENOMENA...
28TH - THE PRESSURE FELL TO 29.33 INCHES. THIS WAS THE LOWEST RECORDED
PRESSURE AT NORTH LITTLE ROCK SINCE JANUARY 2017. IT ALSO BROKE THE RECORD
FOR LOWEST PRESSURE AT NORTH LITTLE ROCK IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD LOWEST PRESSURE FOR OCTOBER WAS 29.35 INCHES, WHICH WAS SET
ON OCTOBER 16, 2006. LOOKING AT ALL PRESSURE DATA SINCE THE NWS OFFICE MOVED
TO NORTH LITTLE ROCK IN LATE 1975, THIS MOST RECENTLY TIED JANUARY 22, 2017
FOR THE 11TH LOWEST PRESSURE ON RECORD.
