PREVALENT SOUTHWEST TO SOUTHERLY WINDS KEPT SIGNIFICANTLY ANOMALOUS
WARMTH AT PINE BLUFF THROUGHOUT THE MONTH. THE ANOMALOUS PATTERN
MADE FOR THE WARMEST DECEMBER IN 37 YEARS, AND THE WARMEST DECEMBER
SINCE RECORDS WERE STARTED IN 1883. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT AND PROLONGED WARMTH
OCCURRED IN THE LAST SEVEN DAYS OF THE MONTH, WHERE DAILY READINGS WERE
RUNNING 25 TO NEARLY 30 DEGREES ABOVE THE 30-YEAR AVERAGE.

CONTINUING THE TREND OF THE LATTER HALF OF 2021, DECEMBER MARKED THE 6TH
MONTH IN A ROW WITH BELOW AVERAGE RAINFALL. IT WAS ALSO THE DRIEST DECEMBER
IN TWO YEARS. RAIN FELL IN EACH WEEK, BUT WAS HEAVIEST AND MOST FREQUENT
DURING THE 3RD WEEK.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FIVE YEARS (SINCE 2016), ABSOLUTELY NO SNOW FELL DURING
THE MONTH.

.MONTHLY AVERAGES...
WHAT MADE THE BIGGEST IMPACT THIS MONTH WAS AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURES. THE
AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS THE WARMEST SINCE 1896, AND WAS
THE WARMEST ON RECORD. THE AVERAGE LOW AND MONTHLY TEMPERATURES WERE THE
WARMEST SINCE 1984, AND ALSO BOTH THE WARMEST ON RECORD.

THERE WERE 18 DAYS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AT OR ABOVE 70 DURING THE MONTH,
WHICH WAS THE MOST SINCE 1946, AND EASILY BEAT THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 13
FROM THEN.

THERE WERE TWO DAYS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES OF 80 DEGREES (THE 25TH AND THE
10TH). THIS MARKED THE WARMEST DECEMBER TEMPERATURES AT PINE BLUFF SINCE 1982.
