Severe Weather Threat and Extreme Temperatures Impacting Portions of the Southern U.S

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop from central Texas into the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes Wednesday. Areas who will see the greatest chances for damaging hail and winds will be from north Texas to the Ozarks. Systems and Facilities Division (SFD)

The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
