An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect over portions of the Florida Big Bend and Panhandle, as well as southern Georgia. Hot temperatures and an extremely muggy air mass will team up to boot heat index in excess of 113 degrees in the afternoon. Slightly hotter conditions expected for Tuesday with max heat indices
The prolonged heat wave will continue in full force through at least Tuesday. Then we'll begin to see heat indices relent into the weekend, bringing a retreat closer to "normal" summer heat. As the heat starts to break, thunderstorm coverage will increase.
