SUMMARY
======================================================================
2021 AT HARRISON SAW THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED IN 32 YEARS.
TRIPLE-DIGIT READINGS CONTINUED TO BE AVOIDED FOR THE 8TH YEAR IN A
ROW. THIS CONTINUES A RECORD STREAK OF NO 100-DEGREE DAYS THAT BEGAN
ON JUNE 28, 2013...A TOTAL OF 3,109 DAYS, OR 8 YEARS, 6 MONTHS, AND
2 DAYS. PRELIMINARILY, THIS WAS THE WARMEST YEAR SINCE 2017, BUT OVERALL
HAS BEEN FAIRLY COMPARABLE TO THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS.
THERE WERE 73 DAYS WITH LOW TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW FREEZING, WHICH WAS
THE MOST IN TWO YEARS. THERE WERE 14 DAYS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AT OR
BELOW FREEZING, WHICH WAS THE MOST IN SEVEN YEARS. THERE WERE 35 DAYS
WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES OF 90 DEGREES OR WARMER WHICH WAS THE MOST IN TWO
YEARS, BUT BELOW THE ANNUAL AVERAGE OF 41. DURING THE YEAR, HARRISON
RECORDED ITS COLDEST TEMPERATURE IN 32 YEARS WHEN THE MERCURY FELL TO -9
DEGREES IN MID-FEBRUARY.
IN TERMS OF DEPARTURES FROM NORMAL (OR COMPARISON WITH THE 30-YEAR AVERAGE
1991-2020), DECEMBER HAD THE MOST SIGNIFICANTLY ANOMALOUS WARMTH, WITH A
DEPARTURE OF +12.3. BY FAR, THOUGH, THE MOST SIGNIFICANT COLD WAS IN FEBRUARY,
WITH A DEPARTURE OF -10.5. IN TERMS OF ACTUAL TEMPERATURES, THOUGH, THE WARMEST
MONTH WAS AUGUST AND THE COLDEST MONTH WAS FEBRUARY.
FOR THE FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW, RAINFALL WAS ABOVE AVERAGE. EVEN THOUGH THAT IS
THE CASE, IT WAS STILL THE DRIEST YEAR SINCE 2017. THERE WERE 111 DAYS
WITH MEASURABLE RAINFALL, WHICH WAS THE LEAST NUMBER IN FOUR YEARS. THE
WETTEST MONTH WAS MARCH, AND THE DRIEST MONTH WAS NOVEMBER.
MEASURABLE SNOW FELL DURING THE YEAR, AND FOR THE FIRST YEAR SINCE 2015,
ANNUAL SNOWFALL WAS ABOVE AVERAGE. SNOW FELL IN JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH,
APRIL, NOVEMBER, AND DECEMBER, BUT WAS MEASURABLE IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY.
