Summary
====================================================================
At North Little Rock, 2018 was the coolest year since 2014 in terms
of average high, low, and annual temperature. There was a 92-degree
temperature ranged during the year, with the hottest reading of 99
(July 15), and the coldest of 7 above zero (January 17). This reading
on January 17 marked the coldest temperature at North Little Rock in
22 years (since February 4, 1996). The lack of 100-degree readings
during the year marked a new record streak of consecutive days with
no 100-degree readings.
Rainfall was excessive and quite frequent during the year. This was
the wettest year since 2009, and the 2nd wettest year since records
began in 1975. There were 147 days with measurable rainfall (that
is, rainfall of 0.01 inches or more). This was the most in a year
since 1982, and was the highest number of days with measurable
rainfall in a year since records began. The previous record was 128
days from 1982. For the first time since 2015, rainfall exceeded ten
inches in more than one month. Six months had a rainfall deficit
(January, March, May, June, July, November), but the other six
months more than made up for this. The wettest month was February,
followed closely by October, then December. The driest month was
January.
This was the 17th consecutive year with measurable snowfall. Snowfall was
below average for the second year in a row. Snow fell in January, February,
April, November, and December. It was measurable in January and November.

of the data below is preliminary until certified correct by the National
Center for Environmental Information in Asheville, North Carolina.

highest 24-hour rainfall in February since 1998, and set a record for the
all-time highest 24-hour rainfall during the month of February at North
Little Rock. The previous record was 3.06 inches on February 10, 1998.
Feb. 21st - The 3.43 inches of rain that fell marked the highest calendar day
rainfall in the month of February since 1998, and set a new record calendar day
rainfall for the month. The previous record was 3.06 inches on February 10, 1998.
Feb. 22nd - The 2.17 inches of rain that fell came in as the 6th highest
calendar day rainfall on record in the month of February.
Feb. 22nd-23rd - The 3.70 inches of rain that fell in a 24-hour period ended
up becoming the 2nd highest 24-hour rainfall on record during the month of
February. This pushed the previously broken record of 3.06 on February 10,
1998 from 2nd to 3rd highest.

Jun. 23rd - Hail of 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter fell as a strong
thunderstorm passed over the airport.
July 20th - The dewpoint reached 82 degrees, which set an all-time
record dewpoint for the month of July. The previous record was 81 degrees,
which was set on July 28, 2014.
July 20th - During the late evening, quarter-sized hail fell with the
passage of a severe thunderstorm.
Aug. 12th - Winds gusted to 44 MPH with the passage of a strong
thunderstorm.
Aug. 8th, 2015 - Dec. 31, 2018 - There has been no 100-degree day since
August 8, 2015, which marks a new record streak of 1,242 consecutive days
with no 100-degree readings. The previous record was 1,080 days from
August 9, 2012 to July 24, 2015, or two years, 11 months, and 16 days.
