Severe Weather Possible from the Central Plains to the Northeast; Building Heat in the West; Fire Weather Concerns for the Southwest

Severe thunderstorms will be possible from the central Plains to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Monday. Hazardous heat will linger across the southern U.S. and build across the West through mid-week. April 2020 Tornadoes

Three separate tornado events occurred over the course of two weeks in April. 

The first tornado event occurred on April 12th when an EF4 tornado touched down in northern Walthall County, MS.  The last time an EF4 impacted the New Orleans/Baton Rouge forecast area was on December 6, 1983 in Laplace, LA. 

The second tornado event occurred on April 19th.  Three EF1 rated tornadoes were surveyed in Mandeville, LA, Dexter, MS, and McNeil, MS. 

The final event took place on April 23rd.  A high end EF2 tornado impacted portions of Amite and Pike Counties in Mississippi including the city of McComb, MS.
