Snow Across the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast; Unsettled Weather in the West

Light to moderate snow will continue into Saturday over the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast. This weekend into next week, a series of atmospheric rivers will bring gusty winds, periods of heavy rain, and mountain snow to northern California and the Pacific Northwest. 2019 saw above normal temperatures at Jackson and London with both locations ending up over one degree above

normal.  Also, both locations tied for their 4th warmest years. The Jackson Weather Office totaled 57.57 inches of

precipitation which is over 9 inches above normal.  2019 was the 7th wettest year at  Jackson.  The London Corbin

Airport precipitation total is missing due to the sensor being out a number of days in 2019.

 

December  2019 was very warm and wet eastern Kentucky.  Jackson totaled 6.30 inches which makes December 2019

the 7th wettest December at Jackson.  London picked up 6.35 inches which made December 2019 the 9th wettest

December ever.  Warm conditions were also on tap with both locations seeing temperatures well above normal.  Jackson

had an average of 43.5 degrees which is the 7th warmest December.  London finished with an average of 43.6 degrees 

which is the 10th warmest December.  Both locations were 5 degrees above normal for December.  Climate data for

Jackson dates back to 1981 while weather records began in 1954 at London.
