Critical Fire Weather Persists in the Southern Plains; Severe Weather and Heavy Rain Expected Over the Weekend

High winds and very dry conditions will continue to produce elevated to critical fire weather conditions over portions of New Mexico and far western Texas through Saturday. WYMT has been an exemplary ambassador for NWS Jackson, KY over the years. When COVID hit, the WYMT weather team stepped up to the plate to help us continue to carry out our initiatives. They co-conducted virtual spotter trainings with us, advertised trainings on our behalf, and promoted weather safety in coordination with our NWS safety week/campaigns. They have also included us annually on their Questions and Answers program, helping us to reach a wide audience for weather and safety topics. We are thankful for their partnership everyday!
