Rain & Heavy Snow Tuesday Through Wednesday

A winter storm will bring hazardous travel to the region Tuesday night through Wednesday.

Rain Tuesday could cause ponding on roadways before a change to snow overnight into Wednesday morning. A band of heavier snow from 3 to 6" expected from northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and western into central Wisconsin.

In addition, strong northerly winds gusting from 40 to 50 mph will blow and drift some of this snow, along with blowing loose outdoor object arounds with potential tree damage. 

The Wednesday morning commute will be impacted. If you have travel plans keep tabs on the forecast. 

Tue Night/Wed: Snow, Heavy At Times & Strong Winds

  • What: Snow and strong winds.
  • Where: All areas. Heaviest snow expected from northern Iowa across southeast Minnesota into western and central Wisconsin.
  • Timing: Overnight Tuesday through Wednesday
  • Impacts: Road conditions will quickly deteriorate shortly after onset of snow and strongest winds. Rural, secondary roads will become treacherous. Conditions could become life threatening if stranded in rural areas.
  • ACTION: AVOID all unnecessary travel in warning areas. Reschedule activities if you can. If you must travel, go slow, have winter weather survival kit with you, and a means to contact someone in case you are stranded.
