November 2-9 Record Warmth

Record or near-record warmth was found across the Upper Mississippi River from November 2 through November 8, 2020.  During this stretch there was:

• La Crosse, WI set 4 record daily high temperatures (3 new &1 tied) and 2 warmest low temperatures (2 new).  They also tied their warmest low temperature for the month of November.
• Rochester, MN had 1 warmest low temperature (new)
• 79 cooperative observer daily record highs (65 new & 14 tied records) were set

La Crosse, WI Records...

• On November 5, La Crosse Regional Airport set a record high of 73 degrees.  The previous record was 72 degrees set back in 2016.
• On November 6, La Crosse Regional Airport set a record high of 75 degrees.  The previous record was 71 degrees set back in 2016.
• On November 7, La Crosse Regional Airport had a low temperature of 60 degrees.  This not only set a daily record (previous record of 59F in 1874), but it tied the warmest November low temperature and it was the latest 60F in a calendar year.  The only other 60F in November was November 2, 1938.
• On November 8, the high temperature was 74 degrees.  This tied the record high which was set back in 1999. 
• On November 8, the low temperature was 57 degrees.  This is the warmest low temperature for this date.  The previous record was 53 degrees in 2006.
• On November 9, the high temperature was 75 degrees.  This tied the record high which was set back in 1999. 
• With record temperatures on 5 consecutive days, this is the longest stretch of days since March 2012 when there was an 11-day stretch from March 14 through March 24.  Since 1900, there have only been 7 stretches of days which have been longer than this stretch. 

Rochester, MN Records...

• On November 7, Rochester International Airport set a record warm low temperature of 54 degrees.  The previous record was 50 degrees set back in 1977.
