March 8, 2003 Snow Totals
A cold front moved across the upper Midwest on March 7th before becoming nearly stationary from southeast Wisconsin, across southern Iowa into northern Kansas. Low pressure formed along the front in Kansas early on the 8th and moved quickly east along the front. By the evening of the 8th, the low was located over the eastern Great Lakes states. As the low began to take shape over Kansas, a band of snow formed north of the front and extended from Kansas into eastern Minnesota. As the low moved east, the band of snow also progressed east and an area of moderate snow developed from extreme eastern Minnesota into north central Wisconsin where totals of 5+ inches were reported. Gilmanton, Wisconsin in northeast Buffalo county had the highest total with 5.7 inches closely followed by Medford, Wisconsin with 5.5 inches.
