Severe Weather Threats Across the Plains; Dangerous Heat and Wildfire Concerns for the West; Watching the Tropics

Severe thunderstorms are expected across the Central Plains accompanied by damaging wind gusts and large hail. In addition, heavy rainfall may lead to instances of flash flooding from the Plains and mid-Atlantic regions. Overview

Numerous showers and thunderstorms produced heavy rain around parts of the region on Saturday, July 23rd. Most of the rain fell Saturday morning into the early afternoon hours before exiting to the east later in the day.

There were reports of street flooding and rapid rises along nearby creeks and streams.  A few area rivers also briefly hit flood stage.

Several flash flood and river flood warnings were issued.
