Overview

A winter storm brought widespread heavy snow to the region Wednesday night through Thursday morning. The snow spread into northeast Iowa and portions of southeast Wisconsin early Wednesday evening, gradually reaching the Interstate 90 corridor by late evening, continuing to advance northeast through the rest of the night. The heaviest snows fell from late evening into the overnight, with 1 to 2" per hour rates common.

The snow persisted mostly west of the Mississippi River Thursday morning before gradually lifting northeast, becoming more focused north of I-94 in Wisconsin during the afternoon.. 

The bulk of the storm's snow fell during the late evening and overnight hours Wednesday with lesser amounts during the day Thursday.
