Critical Fire Weather Concerns; Storm Tracking Across the Plains

Combination of strong winds, dry conditions and above normal temperatures will result in elevated to critical fire weather concerns for the Southern Plains and portions of Southern California. The NOAA Weather Radio transmitter at Black River Falls, WI (WNG564) is broadcasting in a degraded state.

Due to a recent lightning strike and the move of the transmitter to a different nearby tower, the transmitter is not operating at full power.  The lower power output will lessen coverage area.

In coordination with other involved agencies, technicians continue to work on getting the site back up to 100% operations.

The Black River Falls NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts on Channel 5, or a frequency of 162.500 MHz, and serves Clark, Eau Claire, 
Jackson, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Wood Counties in Wisconsin.

Withee, broadcasting on Channel 2 or 162.425 MHz;
Coloma, broadcasting on Channel 1 or 162.400 MHz;
Wausau, broadcasting on Channel 4 or 162.475 MHz;
Winona, broadcasting on Channel 2 or 162.425 MHz;
La Crosse, broadcasting on Channel 7 or 162.550 MHz;
Tomah, broadcasting on Channel 6 or 162.525 MHz.
