2019 Meteorological Summer Summary

During the 2019 Meteorological Summer, temperatures averaged near-normal.  With the exception of northeast Iowa (where rainfall deficits were up to 4 inches drier-than-normal), most of the Upper Mississippi were wetter-than-normal.  Rainfall surpluses were up to 3 inches.  The highest surpluses were in central Wisconsin.  The following images are courtesy of the Midwestern Regional Climate Center.

During meteorological summer, La Crosse Regional Airport had an average temperature of 72.8 degrees.  This was 1.3 degrees warmer than the 1981-2010 normal of 71.5 degrees.  This was the 28th warmest meteorological summer.  This made the 6th time this decade that a meteorological summer has been among the 28 warmest.

• The average maximum temperature was 83.3 degrees.  This was 1.4 degrees warmer than the 1981-2010 normal of 81.9 degrees.  
• The average minimum temperature was 62.4 degrees.  This was 1.4 degrees warmer than the 1981-2010 normal of 61.0 degrees.
