Lake effect snow is set to intensify late this afternoon through Thursday, bringing heavy snowfall, snow-covered roads, and gusty winds of 25 to 30+ mph. This will create possible whiteout conditions and hazardous travel, especially during this evening and Thursday morning’s commutes. Total snow accumulation in the northwest snowbelts are expected to be 8-12 inches, with some areas possibly exceeding 24 inches by Thursday evening.
Looking ahead, our coldest temperatures of the season (so far) will plunge into northern Michigan through the second half of this week, bringing below-zero wind chills for a few days. Be sure to take the proper outdoor precautions!
