First Wave of Significant Icing Commences Later this Afternoon into Tonight

Multiple rounds of mixed wintry precipitation are anticipated, with the first round of sleet and freezing rain commencing later this afternoon through Saturday morning. Significant icing is possible by Saturday morning across eastern upper and far northern lower Michigan. Another round of wintry mix will lead to additional icing concerns Saturday night into Sunday. ...WHITEFISH POINT MICHIGAN WEATHER DATA EQUIPMENT TO BE REMOVED...

The National Weather Service will be turning off the weather data
collection equipment at Whitefish Point Michigan this June. As of
June 1st, no data will be available for the WFPM4 observation. The
NWS will be looking for other suitable locations in the Whitefish
Point area to re-establish this weather observation site, pending
funding. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. In the
meantime, please use other weather observations from this area
including: Grand Marais (GRMM4) and Point Iroquois (PTIM4).
