New Flood and Action Stage Changes for the Susitna River at the Parks Highway
and the Nuyakuk River near Dillingham
On April 18, 2021, the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office in Anchorage, Alaska and the Alaska-Pacific River Forecast Center (APRFC) will be making stage changes on two different rivers in Southern Alaska.
Susitna River
An action stage for the Susitna River at Sunshine, which is where the Susitna River crosses the Parks Highway will be added. An action stage is the approximate level of bankfull flow, and is below minor flood stage. The minor and moderate flood stages remain unchanged.
For the Susitna River at Sunshine:

Nuyakuk River near Dillingham
There will be an action stage added, and a change for the flood stages for the Nuyakuk River near Dillingham. Flood stages were changed due to a flood frequency analysis as well as observations from previous flood events.
