Helene Strengthening and Expected to Bring Catastrophic Winds and Storm Surge to the Northeastern Gulf Coast

Helene is expected to bring life-threatening and catastrophic storm surge and damaging hurricane-force winds to Florida and inland across the Southeast. Catastrophic and life-threatening flash/urban flooding, including landslides, is expected across the southern Appalachians. ...Fresh snow amounts frosting South-Central Alaska...

The first snow system of 2017 brought fresh snow to much of
South-Central Alaska beginning late Friday afternoon on January
13th. While the heaviest snow amounts were deposited across Prince
William Sound and Valdez...most locations over the Anchorage Bowl
to Eagle River and the Matanuska and Susitna Valleys saw from
four to eleven inches.

With the snow expected to taper off through Saturday...another
snow producer is in the wings to bring more snow for Sunday night
and Monday.
