High Wind Warnings now in effect for the Pribilofs through 7am Saturday and for the southern Alaska Peninsula from 4am through 10pm Saturday.

A strong low near the Pribilofs is tapping into cold air over the northern Bering and Siberia. The cold air will race south and west of the low, with forecast sustained winds of 45-60 mph and possible gusts up to 80 mph into Saturday morning around St. George. The strong winds will build south and east towards the southern Alaska Peninsula through the day on Saturday. In addition to the winds, waves are expected to build to within the upper-thirty foot range on the Bering side of the eastern Aleutians.

Those in the Pribilofs, the eastern Aleutians, the southern Alaska Peninsula, and mariners on the waters in between are urged to monitor the latest forecasts closely over the coming days as the system evolves.
