A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect for the Kuskokwim Delta from Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon.

Coastal flooding along the coast of southwest Alaska is possible with a front moving across the Bering on Tuesday. The strongest winds are expected at the same time as the early afternoon high tide in the Kuskokwim Delta and other nearby coastal locations. Water levels are expected to range between 3 and 6 feet above the highest tides, with the highest water expected in the Kuskokwim Bay and Delta.

In Bristol Bay, the strongest winds will occur after high tide, resulting in water levels between 1 and 3 feet above the highest tide.

A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should take action to protect property.

A second, potentially stronger storm is expected to impact many of the same areas on Thursday.
