Extremely Critical Fire Weather in New Mexico; Enhanced Severe Thunderstorm Risk in Central U.S.

High winds and very dry conditions will bring extremely critical fire weather over a large part of New Mexico today. Red Flag and High Wind Warnings have been issued. Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms may produce large to very large hail and localized damaging winds late this afternoon into evening from the eastern Central Plains to the Upper Midwest. New Wave Monitoring Buoy Deployed in
Straits of Florida, South of Bahia Honda Key!

 

On April 1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers deployed a wave monitoring buoy 10 nautical miles due south of Bahia Honda Key. The buoy reports local ocean wave conditions every 30 minutes. Data from this buoy will really help our Florida Keys National Weather Service marine forecasters improve both the quality and value of marine weather analyses, warnings, and forecasts.
