The National Hurricane Center has initiated advisories for Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine. Visit hurricanes.gov for more information.
Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine is located northwest of the eastern tip of Cuba, and is expected to become a tropical depression on Saturday and a tropical Saturday night or early Sunday, all the while moving across the central and northwestern Bahamas through the weekend.
Potential Tropical Cyclones are tropical disturbances that do not have the organization sufficient to be defined as a tropical depression or storm.
Until a well-defined center of circulation forms within the disturbance, there may be significant adjustments to the forecast movement and intensity.
Significant weather impacts to the Florida Keys are not expected. However there is a low chance, about 1-in-5, of hazardous marine conditions over the Atlantic waters offshore within 60 nautical miles the Upper Florida Keys.
Residents and visitors in the Florida Keys should monitor the future progress of Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine over the weekend.
