Severe storms developed late in the afternoon on Friday August 13th along a cold front that pushed through Central and South Central Kansas. Extremely hot temperatures along and south of the front set the stage for any storm that developed to produce severe downburst winds. Around 430 pm a storm quickly developed over McPherson County and produced extensive damage in the town of McPherson. Between 7 pm and 730 pm a severe storm tracked over Marion Lake producing winds that overturned RVs and trailers and downed numerous trees.
