October 2021 Climate Summary and Highlights

WICHITA EISENHOWER AIRPORT

The average monthly temperature of 61.9 degrees was 2.9 degrees warmer than normal. It tied for the 24th warmest October since
records began in 1888, and was the warmest since 2016. The highest temperature was a scorching 96 degrees on the 9th, which
was actually the 2nd warmest temperature on record for the month of October. The lowest temperature was 33 degrees on the 30th. Precipitation-wise, 4.99 inches was measured, which was 2.14 inches wetter than normal. It was the 14th wettest October on 
record, and the wettest since 2018. No snow fell, which was the first snow-free October since 2017.

SALINA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT

The average monthly temperature of 60.5 degrees was 3.5 degrees warmer than normal. It tied for the 25th warmest October since
records began in 1900, and was the warmest since 2016. The highest temperature was a scorching 95 degrees on the 9th, and
the lowest was 32 degrees on the 16th and 30th. Precipitation-wise, 2.10 inches was measured, which was only 0.06 inches drier
than normal. It was the wettest October since 2018.

CHANUTE MARTIN-JOHNSON AIRPORT

The average monthly temperature of 63.3 degrees was 3.9 degrees warmer than normal. It was the 15th warmest October since
records began in 1898, and the warmest since 2016. It was the 2nd warmest October since 1963. The highest temperature was 91 
degrees on the 9th, and the lowest was 36 degrees on the 30th. Precipitation-wise, a whopping 7.80 inches was measured, which 
was 4.47 inches wetter than normal. It was the 5th wettest October on record, and the wettest since 1986.
