May 2022 Climate Summary and Highlights

 

WICHITA

The monthly average temperature was 67.6 degrees, which was 0.9 degrees warmer than normal. It was the warmest May since 2018. 
The warmest temperature was 94 degrees on the 10th, and the coolest was 41 on the 1st. Precipitation-wise, a whopping 12.95 inches was measured at Eisenhower Airport, which was 7.78 inches above normal. It was the 2nd wettest May since records began in 1889. The wettest was 2008. 

SALINA

The monthly average temperature was 67.1 degrees, which was 2.0 degrees warmer than normal. It was the warmest May since 2018. 
The warmest temperature was 97 degrees on the 9th, and the coolest was 38 on the 1st. Precipitation-wise, a whopping 8.72 inches was measured at the airport, which was 3.68 inches above normal. It tied for the 4th wettest May since records began in 1900, and it was the wettest since 2019.

CHANUTE

The monthly average temperature was 68.2 degrees, which was 1.3 degrees warmer than normal. It was the warmest May since 2018. 
The warmest temperature was 91 degrees on the 12th and 14th, and the coolest was 44 on the 1st. Precipitation-wise, a whopping 9.17 inches was measured at the airport, which was 3.30 inches above normal. It was the 13th wettest May since records began in 1898, and the wettest since 2019.
