IF YOU ARE DREAMING OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS IN

WICHITA...YOU'RE LIKELY TO BE DISAPPOINTED.

For official records a white Christmas is defined: 1 inch or more of snow on the ground. It can either fall on Christmas day, or have been on the ground from a previous storm.

There have only been 13 White Christmas's recorded since records began in Wichita in 1888.  This gives Wichita approximately a 10 percent chance of having a White Christmas any given year.  The last white Christmas took place in 2013, with 2 inches of snow on the ground.

In 2007, Wichita had 4 inches of snow on the ground for Christmas, which tied the record for the snowiest Christmas which also occurred in 1962.
