Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Central U.S.; Heat Building in the Western U.S.

A cold front pressing east across the central U.S. will be the focus for areas of strong to severe thunderstorms and excessive rainfall through this weekend. Strong to severe thunderstorms my bring damaging winds, hail, and a few tornadoes while excessive rainfall may lead to areas of flooding. Recent active weather has resulted in the rescheduling of spotter training classes for Denison (Crawford Co)  and Carroll (Carroll Co).  They have been rescheduled with the new dates listed below. For more information about being a trained storm spotter, please visit our webpage at www.weather.gov/dmx/stormspotting.

 

New Dates:

  • Carroll (Carroll Co.) - Thursday, March 27th 630-8 PM at the Carroll Fire Department (801 Bella Vista Dr, Carroll, IA 51401)
  • Denison (Crawford Co.) - Thursday April 3rd 7-830 PM. This will be a virtual class. (Link to be posted soon.)
