Back-to-Back Pacific Storms to Impact the West Coast; Heavy Snow in the Central Appalachians

Back-to-back powerful Pacific storm systems to impact the Pacific Northwest and northern California through the end of this week with heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and higher elevation mountain snow. This article is from Jan 2018 and is no longer valid: Strong northerly gap winds are expected to develop across Southcentral Sunday afternoon through Monday. The strongest winds can be expected at Thompson Pass where gusts could reach as high as 70 mph leading to periods of reduced visibility due to blowing and drifting snow as well as wind chills nearing -40 F. Strong winds can also be expected in Valdez and the Matanuska Valley, including Palmer and Wasilla, where gusts up to 60 mph can be expected.
