Office of Water Prediction (OWP) support of COASTAL Act Named Storm Event Modeling (NSEM) Requirements NOAA’s National Water Model (NWM) is the foundation for the nationally consistent operational hydro forecasting and source of inland hydrologic information. NWM provides river channel discharge within the CONUS areas including coastal zones. This project will develop documentation and demonstration code to couple the Extratropical Surge and Tide Operational Forecast System (ESTOFS) and Advanced Circulation Model (ADCIRC) to the National Water Model (NWM) in the Coastal Zones and determine the possibility of utilizing NEMS for unified model coupling. This project will support COASTAL Act Named Storm Event Modeling (NSEM) requirements by coupling freshwater model to ocean models.
