Local Weather History For January 1st...

On January 1st and 2nd of 1993, an intense storm system brought
accumulations of sleet and freezing rain to much of the region. The
icy weather caused numerous traffic accidents, including a 35 car
pile up in Oklahoma City shortly after midnight. The ice also caused
havoc with area airport operations. Two passenger jets slid off icy
runways at Will Rogers World Airport.
