The Wednesday noon tone alert was not conducted this past week on October 12th due to thunderstorms in the area.

The lack of the Wednesday tone alert test has resulted in a lack of a tone alert test being received by NOAA Weather Radios across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana since October 5th. Some weather radios will recognize the lack of receiving a tone alert and will alert the owner with an audio beep and visual display that reads "CHECK RECEPTION".

The Midland WR120 NOAA Weather Radio is one of the radios that will alert the user that a tone alert has not been received in the past 12 days.

This alert notification is automatically removed once an alert is received by the radio, however, the weather is expected to remain fairly quiet so the next tone alert will most likely not be issued until Wednesday, October 19th at 11 AM.

To manually clear the alerts, reset the power by removing the batteries and/or power adapter for 10 seconds. After the 10 seconds, re-insert the batteries and/or re-insert the power adapter. You will need to reset the time and any alarms you had previously programmed into the radio, however your S.A.M.E. codes will remain programmed. Check your owner's manual for full instructions.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
