...A Look Back at the Climate for Meteorological Spring (March,
April, May) 2017 for Chicago and Rockford...

At Chicago, the average high temperature for the spring season
was 59.5 degrees, which is 1.0 degree above the 1981 to 2010
average. The average low temperature was 41.2 degrees, which is
2.4 degrees above normal. The mean temperature for the season was
50.3 degrees, which is 1.7 degrees above normal.

A total of 13.72 inches of precipitation was recorded during this
past spring, which is 4.16 inches above normal. There was a total
of 7.8 inches of snow recorded at Chicago, which is 1.0 inch
above normal.

Records established or tied during the spring months:

March:
* Record daily maximum temperature of 82 degrees on the 24th
* Record daily precipitation of 1.84 inches on the 30th

April:
* 7th warmest April on record with 53.7 degrees
* 9th wettest April on record with 6.43 inches

May: None.

Seasonal Records:  None

At Rockford, the average high temperature was 60.3 degrees, which
is 0.5 degrees above normal. The average low temperature was 40.0
degrees, which is 2.0 degrees above normal. The mean temperature
for the season was 50.2 degrees, which is 1.3 degrees above
normal.

A total of 14.82 inches of precipitation was recorded during this
past spring, which was 5.13 inches above normal. In addition, a
total of 5.1 inches of snow was recorded, which is 0.6 inches
below normal.

Chicago and Rockford...

At Chicago, the average high temperature was 67.7 degrees, which
is 2.3 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was 48.0
degrees, which is 0.3 degrees below normal. The average
temperature for the month was 57.9 degrees which is 1.2 degrees
below normal. During the month of May, 3.28 inches of
precipitation were recorded, which is 0.40 inches below normal.
No snow was recorded, which is normal.

No records were set for Chicago for the month of May 2017.

At Rockford, the average high temperature was 69.3 degrees, which
is 2.5 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was 47.7
degrees, which is 0.7 degrees below normal. The average
temperature for the month was 58.5 degrees, which is 1.6 degrees
below normal. During the month of May, 4.90 inches of
precipitation were recorded, which is 0.88 inches above normal.
A trace of snow was recorded, which is normal.
