Heavy Snow from the Midwest into the Great Lakes; Locally Heavy Rain in the Western Gulf Coast

A significant winter storm will produce a broad area of moderate to heavy snow from the Midwest through the western Great Lakes. Significant snow accumulations of 6-12 inches, and locally more than 1 foot, and gusty wind may cause hazardous travel conditions. Overview

 

  • Multiple rounds of storms passed over northern Illinois during Tuesday afternoon and evening.
  • Very heavy rain caused flooding across much of northern Illinois along and north of I-88.
  • Some areas received 2-4 inches of rainfall Tuesday.
  • We received reports of three tornadoes. Two were extremely short lived and produced no reports of damage.  The third struck Manhattan, IL in Will County and was rated EF-1.  More information is provided in the tornado tab.
