Snow Across the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast; Unsettled Weather in the West

Light to moderate snow will continue into Saturday over the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast. This weekend into next week, a series of atmospheric rivers will bring gusty winds, periods of heavy rain, and mountain snow to northern California and the Pacific Northwest.  Winter 2016-2017 Events

  • March 12-15, 2017: Clipper event followed by heavy lake effect snow including into northeast Illinois.
  • December 16-18, 2016:  Two minor snow events, including a heavy lake effect snow band with 8+ inches into far northwest Indiana 
  • December 10-11, 2016:  Snow totals of 6-12 inches across northeastern Illinois
     
  • December 4, 2016:  Heavy wet snowfall for the first event of the season; largest December snowfall for Chicago O'Hare in 11 years
