Severe Thunderstorm Threat From the Central Plains to the Northeast; Extreme HeatRisk for the East Coast

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible from the central Plains to the Northeast through this evening. Widespread damaging winds are the primary threat but hail and a tornado or two is also possible. Almost the entire region saw temperatures in the lower to mid 90s on Friday afternoon. Record highs were broken at Louisville and Lexington, and Bowling Green came up just one degree short. High temperatures will be very close to record levels each day through the middle of next week.
