Severe Thunderstorm Threat From the Central Plains to the Northeast; Extreme HeatRisk for the East Coast

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible from the central Plains to the Northeast through this evening. Widespread damaging winds are the primary threat but hail and a tornado or two is also possible. No high temperatures records were broken on Sunday, but all sites reporting in southern Indiana and central Kentucky got into the 90s. 

We will close out September with another day of unseasonable heat, and more to come for the start of October.  

Records in jeopardy this week include the warmest September, the driest September, the driest month all-time, and the all-time warmest October day.
