Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain in the Mississippi Valley; Critical Fire Weather in the Southern Plains

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon/evening as a frontal boundary approaches from the north. A few storms may become strong to severe. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible. Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) of Severe Weather for most of the area on Wednesday. Mostly cloudy and muggy with lows in the 70s. Patchy fog possible overnight into Tuesday morning, especially south of I-10.
Partly cloudy skies with hot and humid conditions. High temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s with heat indices in the 90s/100s. An isolated storm or two cannot be ruled out in northern areas in the afternoon.
