HIGH Risk of Rip Currents Through Sunday Evening What: Numerous, Strong, Life-Threatening Rip Currents. Where: Gulf-facing Beaches. Rip Currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore! Don’t swim against the current. You may be able to escape by swimming in a direction following the shoreline, then at an angle toward the beach. If you feel you will be unable to reach shore, draw attention to yourself.
Today will be warm with highs in the upper 70s/mid 80s. Scattered showers and storms will be possible with rain chances at 20-60% during the daytime, then around 20% at night. Overnight conditions will be cool with lows in the 60s/lower 70s.

Severe Weather and Flooding possible on Sunday Key Messages: Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over southeast Texas on Sunday. Storms may become strong to severe at times. Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) of severe weather in areas mainly west of I-45. Marginal to Slight Risk (level 2 of 4) of Excessive Rainfall, mainly north of US-59. Potential Impacts: Damaging wind gusts, hail, tornadoes. Ponding on roadways and minor street flooding. Actions: Remain weather-aware and check the forecast for updates!
Warm and humid weather is expected to continue with highs in the 70s/80s and lows in the 60s/lower70s. Scattered showers and storms are anticipated today, with rain chances slowly easing down into next week as high pressure pushes in from the east.
For the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast, winds will generally be east to southeasterly around 10-20 knots with gusts around 15-25 knots. Seas will be 3-6 feet. Caution flags may be needed at times. Scattered showers and storms are expected over the weekend, with chances decreasing into next week. Elevated winds will bring a high risk of rip currents.
