Hawaii and Guam Concerns; Record Warmth Spreads Eastward; Heavy Snow for Sierra-Nevada; Severe Weather for the Plains

There is a high risk for strong rip currents along the Gulf facing beaches today through this weekend. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore.
Saturday will be warm with highs in the upper 70s/mid 80s. Scattered showers and storms will be possible with rain chances at 20-60% during the daytime, then around 20% at night. Overnight conditions will be cool with lows in the 60s/lower 70s.
Key Messages: Thunderstorms may develop over the western area Sunday with arrival of a secondary system. Storms could become strong to severe at times. Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) of severe weather for our western area on Sunday. Risk level and area could change greatly over the next day. Key Messages: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are anticipated on Sunday. Storms will be capable of producing higher rainfall rates, and may train over the same spots. Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) of Excessive Rainfall across portions of the Brazos Valley/Piney Woods area with the far west under a Slight Risk (level 2 of 4). Impacts: Ponding on roadways and minor street flooding possible, especially in urban and low lying areas. Actions: Remain weather-aware and stay tuned for forecast updates!
Warm and humid weather is expected to continue with highs in the 70s/80s and lows in the 60s/lower70s. Scattered showers and storms are anticipated today, with rain chances slowly easing down over the weekend into next week has high pressure pushes in from the east.
For the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast, winds will generally be east to southeasterly around 10-20 knots with gusts around 15-25 knots. Seas will be 3-6 feet. Caution flags may be needed at times. Scattered showers and storms are expected now through the weekend, with chances decreasing into next week. Strong winds may bring a high risk of rip currents across Gulf-Facing beaches this weekend.
