Heavy Rain and Flooding Concerns in Hawaii; Severe Weather in the Plains

A storm system is expected to bring strong winds, widespread heavy rainfall, and flooding concerns to the Hawaiian Islands through the weekend. Today will be warm with highs in the upper 70s/lower 80s. Scattered showers and storms will be possible with rain chances at 20-50%. Overnight conditions will be cool with lows in the 60s.
Friday will be warm with highs in the upper 70s/lower 80s. Scattered showers and storms will be possible with rain chances at 50-80% during the daytime, then around 20% at night. Overnight conditions will be cool with lows in the 60s.
There is a high risk for strong rip currents along the Gulf facing beaches until Thursday night and might be extended into Friday. Rip currents can sweep event the best swimmers away from shore.
For the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast, winds will generally be east to southeasterly around 10-20 knots with gusts around 15-25 knots. Seas will be 2-6 feet. Caution flags may be needed at times. Rain chances are expected daily. Strong winds may bring a high risk of rip currents across Gulf-Facing beaches this weekend.
Key Messages: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are anticipated on Sunday. Storms will be capable of producing higher rainfall rates, and may train over the same spots. Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) of Excessive Rainfall across portions of the Brazos Valley/Piney Woods area. Impacts: Ponding on roadways and minor street flooding possible, especially in urban and low lying areas. Actions: Remain weather-aware and stay tuned for forecast updates!
Key Messages: Thunderstorms may develop over the area around the middle of next week ahead of a dry-line. Storms could become strong to severe at times. Sligh Risk (level 2 of 5) of severe weather for areas north of I-10 on Wednesday. Risk level and area could change greatly over the next few days.
