Light to moderate snow will continue into Saturday over the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast. This weekend into next week, a series of atmospheric rivers will bring gusty winds, periods of heavy rain, and mountain snow to northern California and the Pacific Northwest. CONFIRMED A TORNADO NEAR 4 NW HOT SPRINGS IN MADISON COUNTY NORTH
CAROLINA ON 04/27/2011.

A BRIEF TORNADO TOUCHDOWN WAS FOUND IN MADISON COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA
WEST OF U.S. HIGHWAY 25/70...OR NORTH OF REDWOOD DRIVE...AND JUST
PAST PLUM TREE HOLLOW ROAD.

THE TORNADO FELLED AND SNAPPED LARGE TREES IN MULTIPLE DIRECTIONS...
PEELED BACK ROOFING ON A FARM OUTBUILDING TYPE STRUCTURE...DESTROYED
ONE SHED AND THREW ANOTHER IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. THERE WAS
SOME MINOR DAMAGE NOTED TO A NEARBY HOME WHERE A TREE FELL AND
CLIPPED PART OF SAID HOME.

MEANWHILE SOUTH OF THE BRIEF TORNADO TOUCHDOWN THERE WAS AN AREA
OF STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE...ROUGHLY REACHING WIND SPEEDS AROUND
80 MPH. THIS AREA EXTENDED FROM THE WESTERN END OF GRASSY CREEK
ROAD TO U.S. HIGHWAY 25/70. THIS AREA APPEARED TO BE ABOUT 1/8 TO
1/4 MILE WIDE AND 1.5 MILES WIDE IN LENGTH.

IN THE STRAIGHT LINE WIND AREA NUMEROUS TREES WERE KNOCKED OVER AND
SNAPPED...ROOFING WAS REMOVED FROM TWO STRUCTURES...A TREE FELL ON
ONE HOME...AND OTHER MINOR DAMAGE WAS NOTED TO OTHER HOMES.
