Continued Very Cold with Hazardous Travel

Very cold temperatures and lake effect snow will continue to result in slow and treacherous travel through tonight. The snow will still greatly reduce visibilities and slowly add up, with the highest additional amounts generally near and west of Highway 131. Wind chills as low as 20 below are expected. Patchy frost is possible tonight in colder spots, as temperatures generally fall into the mid to upper 30s away from Lake Michigan. Below are statistics for the first freeze of Fall (32°).

Lowest Temperatures So Far This Season:

Most locations have not yet fallen below 40 degrees since last spring. This year joins roughly 10% of the years on record to not have a low temperature below 40 degrees by this point in the season.

Kalamazoo: 44° (Oct 8)
