Continued Very Cold with Hazardous Travel

Very cold temperatures and lake effect snow will continue to result in slow and treacherous travel through tonight. The snow will still greatly reduce visibilities and slowly add up, with the highest additional amounts generally near and west of Highway 131. Wind chills as low as 20 below are expected. For the period from January through March, Southwest Michigan has a between 33% to 40% chance above normal temperatures, and a greater than 40% chance of above normal precipitation. This means the warmer period of temperature will prevail over the colder periods of temperature.  There is a overall trend for wetter than normal precipitation over the past 10 years for Southwest Lower Michigan during this time period. There has been no significant trend in the temperature for this period in the past 10 years.
