Sioux Falls, SD
Weather Forecast Office
The mild weather experienced the past few weeks will be abruptly changing to what is more frequently experienced across the Northern Plains in December. A strong cold front will usher in very cold air on strong northwest winds with gusts of 40 to 50 mph, along with 1 to 4 inches of snow and blowing snow. Temperatures will be falling in the afternoon, and travel conditions will be deteriorating as the wind and snow move in. Conditions should improve by late tonight, as snow ends by around 9 or 10 pm, and winds decrease to less than 30 mph by about midnight. Overnight low temperatures by Tuesday morning will drop into the teens, as winds taper off and Winter settles into the region for the rest of the week.
