Point Forecast Variable Probability of Precipitation Icon Examples

If precipitation is forecast to cover both 6-hour periods within a 12-hour period, and the Probability of Precipitation (PoP) increases or decreases by a value greater than or equal to 30%, dual PoP icons and phrases WILL be used. In such case, the PoPs for each 6-hour period will be connected with an arrow.  The icon phrase will reflect the change in likelihood (e.g., rain, then chance rain).

Example 1
Chance for snow increasing during the "Today" time period.

Variable probability of precipitation example. Chance for snow increasing during the "Today" time period.

Example 2
Chance for thunderstorms decreasing during the "Tonight" time period.

Variable probability of precipitation example. Chance for thunderstorms decreasing during the "Tonight" time period.

Example 3
Rain changing to snow with decreasing probability of precipitation during the "Tonight" time period.

Variable probability of precipitation example. Rain changing to snow with decreasing probability of precipitation during the "Tonight" time period.
