Postponed NWR Test

The National Weather Service in Kansas City is postponing the schedule weekly Weather Radio test due to ongoing/expected hazardous weather. The radio test will be conducted on the next good weather day.

The National Weather Service in Kansas City is postponing the schedule weekly Weather Radio test due to ongoing/expected hazardous weather. The radio test will be conducted on the next good weather day.
The NOAA Weather Radio station at WXM39 (La Plata) is down due to a telecom issue. There is no estimated time for a return to service, but the issue has been elevated and technicians are working the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may cause.

Some Perspective on the October 26, 2020 Early Season Snow Event
Late Tuesday afternoon an area of thunderstorms developed over southeastern Kansas, tracking northeast and eventually producing both a 31.82 mile long EF-4 tornado across Douglas and Leavenworth counties in Kansas, and a 5.84 mile long EF-2 tornado near Kearney, MO.
A couple of brief tornadoes developed near Longview Lake, Lake Lotawana, and southern Lafayette County on the evening of May 24th causing minor damage to trees and some structural damage.
