Coverage of PM showers/storms will increase through the weekend. Some storms will produce gusty winds, with a low chance for severe storms with damaging winds reaching 60 mph. Frequent lightning and heavy downpours also expected. A brief break from the heat is expected early next week.
There is a slight (level 2 of 5) risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening. The highest chances are in the north. Damaging winds will be the primary threat.
