There is a level 1 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms across central Alabama through 8 pm today. The primary threat is damaging wind gusts.
We are monitoring Tropical Depression Two over the northeast Gulf. The tropical system is forecast to become Tropical Storm Bertha on Monday and slowly track to the north and west through the week. Significant impacts to central Alabama are not forecast at this time.
High temperatures in the low to mid 90s will combine with humid conditions to produce heat index values near 105 and a moderate to occasionally major heat risk. Daily showers and thunderstorms will be isolated to scattered in coverage.
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected across central Alabama today. High temperatures in the low to mid 90s before cooling rains.
Lingering showers and thunderstorms should end by midnight. Low temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
